San Diego Bay
Area Guide

San Diego Bay promises entertainment and adventure for the entire family from Point Loma, along Harbor Drive, south to the shores of Imperial Beach. Visit all the attractions, parks and shops and enjoy San Diego Bay's points of interest set against its spectacular views. The area's beauty is accented by a growing collection of public art.

  • Did you know that Point Loma was discovered in 1542 and named San Miguel? The Big Bay's rich history starts at the tip of Point Loma where you can visit the Cabrillo National Monument.

  • From Shelter Island on the Bay, discover San Diego's world-famous sportfishing fleet; join one of the many daily deep-sea fishing trips. Visit America's Cup Harbor or the area's parks, marinas, restaurants and hotels.

  • Picturesque Harbor Island has far-reaching views of the Bay.

  • Step back in time at the San Diego Maritime Museum on Harbor Drive. Roam the decks of several historical ships, including the Star of India, a tall ship that sailed during the 1860s, which is seaworthy today.

  • In bustling Seaport Village, you'll find an eclectic mix of bistros and boutiques, live music and talented street performers. A short walk away, you can't miss San Diego's unique Convention Center, popular among meeting and event planners and conventioneers from around the world.

  • National City is home to the 32nd Street Naval Station as well as a thriving shipbuilding industry.

  • Moving south, discover Chula Vista Yacht Harbor's six-acre paradise, an ideal postcard setting for outdoor activities.

  • Imperial Beach, "The Most Southwestern City in the U.S.," is the land link between San Diego and Coronado. Its sandy beaches are a regular draw for surfers, as well as sand sculpture artists.

  • For a true San Diego treat, take a ferry across the Bay to Coronado. Here, you can find treasures hidden in art galleries, shops and restaurants.

There are many options for getting to San Diego Bay. Once you're here, you can explore the Bay on foot or with a tour to see the sites and experience San Diego Bay-the Big Bay
